Personalised Spanish Lessons for Every Learner
At The Spanish Academy, we believe that every learner is unique.
Whether you are a child taking your first steps in Spanish, a teenager preparing for examinations or an adult learning for work, travel or personal enrichment, every learner brings different strengths, interests, experiences and ways of learning.
Our role as teachers is to understand each individual and adapt our teaching so that every student can develop confidence, enjoy learning and reach their full potential.
We are passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive and encouraging learning environment where every learner feels understood, respected and valued.
Every Learner Is Different
There is no single way to learn a language.
Some learners thrive through conversation, others through visual resources, practical activities, repetition, structure or creative learning experiences.
At The Spanish Academy, every lesson is taught one-to-one, allowing us to tailor our teaching to each student's:
- Age.
- Learning style.
- Interests.
- Pace of learning.
- Strengths.
- Individual challenges.
- Personal goals.
This personalised approach enables every learner to progress in a way that suits them best.
Our Areas of Expertise
Our teaching team has extensive experience supporting learners of all ages with a wide range of educational profiles, including:
- High Learning Potential (Gifted Education).
- ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
- Autism.
- Dyslexia.
- Dyspraxia.
- Dyscalculia.
- Williams syndrome.
- Anxiety related to learning.
- Other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Rather than focusing on labels, we focus on understanding each learner as an individual and building on their unique strengths.
High Learning Potential (Gifted Education)
Some learners need greater challenge rather than additional support.
Gifted learners often thrive when lessons encourage curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and deeper understanding instead of simple memorisation.
Elisabeth Bulbena Vela is an ADHD Coach, an Autism Coach and a specialist in High Learning Potential (Gifted Education). She is also a member of the High Learning Potential Research Group at the Institute for Education of the University of Barcelona, where she contributes to educational research in gifted education and inclusive learning.
Her specialist training in gifted education, neurodiversity, pedagogy and inclusive education helps ensure that highly able learners remain challenged, motivated and inspired.
Supporting Neurodivergent Learners
Neurodiversity brings many strengths.
Many autistic learners and learners with ADHD demonstrate exceptional creativity, curiosity, attention to detail, original thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Our lessons are carefully adapted to reduce anxiety, build confidence and create an enjoyable learning experience.
Depending on the learner, this may include:
- Clear lesson structure.
- Predictable routines.
- Flexible teaching approaches.
- Visual supports.
- Practical activities.
- Short, varied tasks.
- Additional processing time.
- Opportunities to explore personal interests.
- Teaching strategies tailored to individual strengths.
Every learner is different, and we adapt our teaching to meet each student's individual needs.
Individual Lessons Make the Difference
Many learners benefit enormously from one-to-one teaching.
Individual lessons allow us to:
- Work at the student's own pace.
- Adapt every lesson in real time.
- Provide immediate feedback.
- Build confidence gradually.
- Reduce unnecessary pressure.
- Create a calm, supportive learning environment.
- Celebrate progress and success.
This personalised approach helps learners of all ages develop confidence while enjoying the process of learning Spanish.
Communication Comes First
Our teaching philosophy places communication at the heart of language learning.
Rather than simply memorising vocabulary or grammar rules, students learn through listening, understanding and meaningful communication.
This natural approach helps learners develop genuine confidence and encourages them to use Spanish in real-life situations.
We believe that language learning should be engaging, motivating and enjoyable for everyone.
Working in Partnership
Every learner is different.
For children and teenagers, we work closely with parents and carers to understand each student's strengths, interests and individual needs.
For adult learners, we take the time to understand your personal goals, preferred learning style and any adjustments that help you learn most effectively.
By working together, we create a positive, supportive and personalised learning experience for every student.
An Inclusive Academy
Inclusion is not simply about adapting lessons.
It is about recognising and valuing the individuality of every learner.
We believe that every student deserves to feel respected, encouraged and capable of success.
Whether you are preparing for GCSE, A-Level or DELE, learning Spanish for travel, relocating to Spain, maintaining your heritage language or simply learning for the enjoyment of languages, we will adapt our teaching to help you achieve your goals.
